The World Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union in which elite figure skaters compete for the title of World Champion. This event is considered the most prestigious of the ISU Championships.
The 1986 Worlds were held in Geneva, Switzerland from March 18 to March 23, 1986.
ISU Representative was Josef Dědič, Czechoslovakia, and ISU Technical Delegate was Elemér Terták, Hungary.
Soviet judge Natalia Danilenko would be suspended for giving Alexandr Fadeev a score of 5.9 after he fell twice. He should have at least got a 5.8 because of a new rule mandating mandatory dedecution of 0.1 for falls. [1]
